UNEP/GRID-Geneva just published two new technical reports on sand, part of the sand analyses series.
The first one (guideline for estimating national sand and gravel demand) presents the methodology developed from pilot studies in Vietnam and The Gambia to estimate national infrastructure material demand to strengthen sustainable resource planning. This demonstrates a quickly deployable and scalable methodology to assess the demand for key construction materials.
The second report (sand and gravel demand in The Gambia) aims to address the current knowledge and data gap in national sand demand and use of developing countries by applying a pilot methodology to quantitatively assess the scale of sand demand / extraction in The Gambia.
