As part of their long-standing collaboration, GRID-Geneva and the Amadou Mahtar Mbow University (UAM) in Dakar, Senegal have contributed to a new publication in Land (MDPI) entitled “Assessment and Mapping of Multi-Hazard Risk for Decision Support in the Kedougou Region, Senegal (1995–2024)”.
The study presents an innovative methodology combining satellite data, geospatial analysis through Google Earth Engine, and local expertise to assess risks associated with droughts, floods, wildfires, and extreme heat in the Kedougou region. The results identify areas facing the highest levels of exposure, particularly in the Saraya department, and provide valuable information to support territorial planning and disaster risk reduction.
This publication highlights the continued commitment of GRID-Geneva and UAM to developing scientific tools that strengthen climate resilience and support sustainable development across West Africa.
