Danube basin
Description
The Danube is the second largest river in Europe; it is approximately 2900 km long and drains an area of about 817000 km2. It rises in the Black Forest Mountains of Germany and empties into the Black Sea. About one-third of the Danube river basin is mountainous, while the remainder consists of hills and plains.
