Description

Indonesia is the world’s second-largest producer of palm oil. In order to meet demand,
the country has opted to replace vast areas of tropical forest with palm oil plantations.
Roads appear first then the plantations expand, their linear patterns contrasting with
the density of the natural vegetation. New roads herald new plantations.
