PREVIEW GLOBAL CYCLONE ASYMMETRIC WINDSPEED PROFILE

Description

Tracks of tropical cyclones are generally available through internet provided by different centres. Information on latitude/longitude, date, hours, wind speed and central pressure are usually included, however, each centre has its own way and unit for measuring cyclones characteristics. The aim of the PreViewl Global Cyclones Asymmetric Windspeed Profile is to provide users with a standardised version, with converted units into meter system. This dataset also centralise information of 6 centres into a single global coverage. A formula from Greg Holland, further modified by UNEP/DEWA/GRID-Geneva has been applied to compute the windspeed profile, thus providing buffer representing areas affected.
