Project description

Currently the World Environment Situation Room (WESR) includes several thematic spaces such as Pollution, Risk, Biodiversity, Climate Change and Ocean. Several new developments are needed to include new content such as near-real time data on air and water quality. This project is focusing on data from three African cities: Addis Ababa, Cape Town and Nairobi. It will be sought to define and implement data access protocols for automatic filling of the air/water quality space using data from the three cities. The project will contribute to UNEP’s Programme of Work Subprogramme 7, Environment under Review, (iii) Strengthening of the science policy interface by countries based on the use of data, information and policy analysis in the areas of air quality, water quality, ecosystems, biodiversity, waste and hazardous chemicals, the marine environment and emerging issues.
