FVC-Vaud: Indicator of the Fractional Vegetation Cover of Canton de Vaud

This information, which covers the whole of Vaud, is essential geodata for cantonal monitoring of soil damage: base geodata ID125 "Results of cantonal monitoring of soil damage".

The indicator should make it possible to determine an annual cover rate, essential for anticipating runoff concerns (as the more vegetation a soil has, the more water infiltrates). This indicator should make it possible to classify the soil according to the level of vegetation cover: several classes ranging from soils that are always bare to soils with permanent vegetation cover.

More specifically, the values should be :

1. on the surface only (it is not necessary to know the height of the vegetation) ;

2. with a monthly/quarterly/annual approach to identify the months/periods when a soil is bare or covered by vegetation.
