Description
Palm oil is used in many food products but also for laundry
detergent and cosmetics. Indonesia is the second largest producer
in the world, after Malaysia. Large pans of forests are converted
to palm tree plantations. Their surface rose six-fold since 1985.
On this image one can see the emergence of a new
plantation on the island of Irian Jaya.
