Biodiversity: what is it ?
Biodiversity is the sum of all existing life species, the total figure is difficult to evaluate (several
millions), although only 1.75 million species are known. This includes: insects (60%), plants (18%),
molluscs, crustaceans, fishes, birds, etc,… mammals accounting for only 0.35% of species.
