Description
In Switzerland the average warming reached 1.7°C since 1900,
this impacts our glaciers. Their thickness lost an average of
65 cm per year. At such rate 95% of the Swiss glaciers volume
present in the 70th might be gone by 2100.
Located at an elevation of 1650 m, the glacier of Trift (Bern) is
part of the lowest in the Swiss Alps. Nowadays the glacier
tongue is showing a dramatic recession and lost 1.5 km in length
since 1936. This phenomenon even increased with the presence
of the recently formed lake.
