UNEP/GRID-Geneva’s director will moderate a session on sand on Wednesday 8th September 2021 at the 2021 IUCN World Conservation Congress, part of the event titled “Equity, Ecosystems, and Scarcity: The global sand crisis and infrastructure.” This is in line with the new IUCN resolution motion on marine sand, motivated by the UNEP report "Sand and Sustainability: Finding new solutions for environmental governance of global sand resources" and coordinated by UNEP/GRID-Geneva that was the document quoted in support of this motion.
