Global Infrastructure Risk Model and Resilience Index (GIRI) platform launched at COP28

Date: Dec. 20 2023

The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) launched its groundbreaking GIRI platform at COP28 in Dubai. The platform is being developed and hosted by GRID Geneva.

The Global Infrastructure Risk Model and Resilience Index (GIRI) is the first publicly available, fully probabilistic risk model to estimate risk for infrastructure assets with respect to most major geological and climate-related hazards.

Risk has been estimated for the existing climate and two different climate change scenarios.?Risk metrics such as the Average Annual Loss (AAL) enable governments to identify and understand the contingent liabilities internalised in their infrastructure systems and to choose the most appropriate strategies to strengthen resilience.
